Get connected when setting up Windows

  1. On the network screen, pick your Wi-Fi name and enter the password. The password is often on the router label.
  2. If the network is hidden, choose it from the list of options and type the name exactly.
  3. Ethernet skips this screen when a cable is already connected.
  4. After the desktop appears, open Settings > Windows Update so drivers for the wireless adapter can finish installing.

Some Windows editions expect an internet connection and a Microsoft account during setup. Connect if you can, rather than trying to skip the screen.
