Windows 11 system requirements
Windows 11 needs a compatible 64-bit processor, 4 GB of RAM, 64 GB of storage, UEFI firmware with Secure Boot capable of being enabled, and TPM 2.0. A DirectX 12 compatible graphics device and a 720p display are also required. Some features need still more hardware, such as a camera or a specific sensor.
- Open PC Health Check from Start, or install it from the Microsoft Store, and run the Windows 11 check.
- If the check fails on TPM or Secure Boot, restart into the PC’s firmware settings and enable them before you decide the PC is unsupported. The menu name varies by manufacturer.
- Back up your files before any upgrade.
- When the PC is eligible, Windows Update offers the upgrade, or you can use the Installation Assistant.
Requirements can change for future releases. Use PC Health Check on the PC itself rather than a printed list.
